The FAQ for @Protect__Defend

What's going on here?

This bot tweets the US Constitution and its amendments in response to tweets from the President.

Why?

I really like the Constitution, and the President really likes twitter. I know he's a busy guy, so I figured if I tweeted the constitution to him, he could read it, one tweet at a time. I hope this isn't the only way he'll read the constitution, but you never know.

What are you, some kind of coastal elite snowflake?

Yeah, pretty much. But I thought the constitution was something that all Americans could - and should - get behind, and that gently reminding those in power of the importance of the rule of law is never a bad idea.

Why didn't you do this for Obama?

If I'd thought of it sooner, I would have done it for Obama. There hasn't been a president in some time who didn't need some reminding about the constitution, but it really was Trump's engagement with twitter that crystalized the idea.

So @realdonaldtrump blocked this bot, now what?

Now it's following and replying to @POTUS and @VP. It seemed to me - still does - that the @realdonaldtrump account is where the president really "lives" on twitter. Since the bot has been following @POTUS, it has fewer tweets to reply to, and it gets fewer followers and comments from others. And frankly, @POTUS tweets are not as interesting or entertaining. I added @VP to increase the frequency, but it hasn't changed the engagement much. So, by blocking this account, the president or whoever manages @realdonaldtrump has in fact taken away the bot's platform to tweet the constitution. Make of this what you will.

How can I get in touch? I want to send you [money|death threats|marriage proposals|emoluments|a copy of my screenplay]

Thanks, but I think its best that I don't accept any of those things. If you have a serious question, DM me.

Can I get a copy of the source code?

Write your own damn bot. I paid good money to some clever dude to code this for me.
