TIPS TO CONTROL YOUR FOOD PORTION RECOMMENDED BY MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS CENTER

We have become habitual to have food in a super-sized portion. But this is unfair for you if you are indulging in the heaping plates, especially if you want to reduce your weight and work hard to achieve a slim body with a healthy weight in the new year. In fact, the portion size of food plays an important role in achieving a slim trim body by losing weight.

Tip-1. Use your thumb to measure high fat-foods

One teaspoon is equivalent to your whole thumb (from the knuckle to the tip of the thumb). So, measure the high fatty foods using your thumb and consume it at a minimum. However, the consumption of high-fat foods can be measured by keeping the foods on your thumb tip until the knuckle.

Tip-2. Use your index finger to measure Cheese

The index finger is equal to 1.5 ounces approx., which is counted as 8 ounces for liquid products such as milk. Consumption of low fat-cheese can be helpful to meet the required servings from the dairy group.

Tip-3. Use Handful to measure snacks.

Snacks can increase your weight. So, keep in mind to limit the consumption of nuts to one handful and chips or pretzels to two handfuls to reduce your weight. Because each of the above-mentioned snacks contains about 170 calories and more than 10 grams of fat.

Tip-4. Cupped hand to measure vegetables.

The vegetables themselves do not contain a majority of calories, but the toppings and condiments we add to it contain high calories. For some extra flavor, herbs or spices and some pieces of fresh lemons should be added instead of Butter and cheese.

Tip-5. Eat something before your dinner

Some People skip their lunch and afternoon snacks to save the calories for a night of fasting, it may seem like a smart step but almost backfires and goes wrong for their health. We recommend you to fill up and still leave room for dinner by having a light food with protein and fiber, and then about half an hour before the dinner, cut off your hunger by eating an apple.

In research, it came into light that People who ate an apple before dinner consumed fewer calories (about 15% less). This happened mainly because apples are high fiber and slow to digest, So the satisfaction remains longer.

Tip-6. Try to avoid Meat

If you have set the goal to lose your body weight and want to get an optimum result within one month, then avoiding the consumption of meat would be a milestone and you will achieve your goal shortly.

However, if you are unable to stay away from meat, then go for the lighter pieces of meat because they have fewer calories and fat than the darker ones. Taking off the skin would be another way to cut calories and fat.

It is to remember that a serving size of meat is equal to a card’s deck. So, be aware of how much of meat you put on your plate and pass the rest to others helping.

Tip-7. Use Small Pots and Utensils:

Using small plates and utensils is a great idea to lose weight. Because If you take a large plate then you will put enough food to fill you up at a single instance and you consume much than your hunger, but if you take small plate then you will have to take food twice or more to fill you up. So, in a survey, it was found out that people who use small plates never eat much than their hunger

In research, it was found that when the oversized bowl was used, even nutrition experts served themselves 31 percent more ice cream compared with the quantity of smaller bowls. However, the size of the serving utensil also matters as when they used a 3-ounce scoop, the subjects served themselves 57 percent more than the smaller scoop.
