Age Level: 2-4 year old
Goal of Lesson: have students fill eggs with various items to sink them.
Learning Skills: weight; heavy things will sink while light things will float.
Materials: plastic Easter eggs, things to fill the eggs with (both light and heavy; rice/beans, feathers, etc) and a container of water
1. Give students 5 empty plastic Easter eggs and various items they can use to fill the eggs. Their challenge is to sink the egg.
2. Once they fill the egg have them place the egg in the container of water and see if it floats or sinks.
3. They will discovery that the heavy fillers will sink the egg while the light items will make it float.
