Age Level: 3-4 year old
Goal of Lesson: Have students create paper out of old recycled paper scraps.
Learning Skills: Students will learn to be more resourceful when using paper rather than throwing away their paper scraps.
Materials: paper, water, tray/paper plates, optional cookie cutters
Presteps: Over a course of time (a week, a month, etc) collect paper scraps.
1. Have students rip apart paper into small pieces.
2. Soak pieces of paper in water until they are soft and are mixed well into the water (making a mushy consistency).
3. Give students paper plates and have them form a thin, tightly packed layer of the mushy paper into any shape they want. *Optional use cookie cutters to shape the mushy paper.
3. Leave in the sun to dry (depending on how wet the paper is you may need to remove excess water with a sponge). Once dry carefully peel off the paper from the plate and use just like normal paper.
