Age Level: 2-4 year old
Goal of Lesson: Have students create faux lungs as a simple example of how lungs work.
Learning Skills: Find out more about lungs. Learn how to control breathing/blowing.
Materials: 2 small plastic bags, 2 straws, 1 bigger straw, scissors, washi tape, glue
1. Give brief explanation of lungs and the respiratory system.
2. Cut the top off of 2 small plastic bags and put paper straws into each.
3. Tape the straw to the inside of the bag.
4. Tightly wrap tape around the bag and straw
5. Put both of the smaller straws into a larger straw. Tape tightly to keep air from escaping.
6. Now you have a pair of simulation lungs! Breath through the straw in and out to see the lungs inflate and deflate.
