Age Level: 2-4 years old
Goal of Lesson: Have students start recognizing numbers and start counting.
Learning Skills: Grow math skills through recognizing numbers and counting. Being able to sort numbers and colors.
Materials: colored papers, foam numbers, pipe cleaners, tape, buttons
Preparation
1. Take colored sheets of paper and sketch out an umbrella shape. Cut out
2. Next take pipe cleaners matching the colors of paper you used for your umbrellas and cut them into 4-inch strips.
3. Bend the pipe cleaners at the bottom to form a J shape handle for the umbrella. Tape colored pip cleaners to matching colored paper.
4. Add numbers to front part of umbrella
Umbrellas are ready for class!
1. Give students colorful buttons and umbrellas. (could also use colorful pompoms)
2. Have students sort buttons by color and numbers.
