Age Level: 3-4 year old
Goal of Lesson: Teach about surface tension
Learning Skills: fine motor skills through carefully dropping water on coin.
Materials: coins (all sizes), water, eye dropper/pipette, paper towels, drops on a coin record chart (optional)
1. Have students make a hypothesis answering how many drops of water they think each coin can hold.
2. Time to test their hypothesis'. Use an eyedropper or pipette to drop one drop of water onto the surface of a coin. Count how many drops the coin can hold before the surface tension breaks and the water spills over.
3. Have students record predictions/findings on a chart.
