Age Level: 2-4
Goal of Lesson: Give students a variety of recycled materials (cardboard, toilet paper rolls, string, etc) and challenge them to use their creativity to create boats out of only the given materials.
Learning Skills: Building/constructing a boat and what makes it sturdy but still able to float.
Materials: recyclables (plastic bottles/containers, cardboard, popsicle sticks, tape or glue, a container of water.
1. Have students choose some supplies from recycled materials.
2. Tell the students to use their creativity to create a boat that can float on water. Show students some boat examples. (examples at the bottom)
3. Once constructed, teachers will gently place boats on water to test them
