Age Level: 3-4 year old
Goal of Lesson: Help students expand their communication skills through creating a fun game.
Learning Skills: Develop partnership skills. Help students gain social and collaborative skills. Expand their creativity and develop patience as the plates dry and as they play the game.
Materials: Paper plates, scissors, paint & paint brushes, paper towel rolls, tape
1. Hand the paper plates out and ask for the students to carefully cut the middle section of the plate. *Teachers can start the cut if necessary or the students can start by cutting from the outside and just close the section with a piece of tape*
2. Now let the fun and creativity begin by painting the plates! Be creative and create any design from polka dot to stripes or just go with a plain color.
3. Let your rings dry. Meanwhile ask the children to get into groups. Provide them with pieces of tape and ask them to grab a regular plate and tape the paper towel tube to the bottom side of the plate. This will create the stand for the rings.
4. Let the fun begin! Let the students start forming lines and try tossing their ring into the tube. Try creating different styles of rings and perhaps painting the stand as well. Have fun!!
