Social stories is a strategy developed in Carol Gray in 1991. They are short stories describing particular situations, event or activity with additional discussion of what to expect and how to manage. Social stories are helpful with introducing a new concept (wearing shoes), new life event (going to school), or strategies in a simple way for understanding. For regulation, social stories can be helpful for reinforcing using of calming strategies, expectations of new situation or activity, teaching alternative strategies.
