Cardboard boxes were patented in England in 1856. However, they were not used in the logistics industry until 1871. United States of America started using these boxes in 1895. In 2012, British stuntman Gary Conery safely landed via wing suit without deploying his parachute on a 3.6m high landing zone made of cardboard devices. Cardboard does not refer to any single material but a combination of materials put through a process. It is a heavy duty paper of various strengths ranging from a simple arrangement to a combination of fluted paper and flat liners.
Mass and viscosity of enclosed air work together with the limited stiffness of the boxes in absorption of energy of incoming objects. Usually, different grades of cardboard are recommended for various uses. Designs of several cardboard tools depend on the product being shipped, risk in the shipping environment, and retailer and consumer needs. Double and triple wall corrugated board is produced for high stacking strength and puncture resistance. Single wall corrugated board is only suitable for items under 65 pounds. Double wall and other higher grades are recommended for items weighing 96 pounds and more. Cardboard boxes with dividers are best for items like vases and other fragile items.
Boxes for use of storage in high humidity areas will require more collapse resistance because after about 18 months they may become brittle and crack easily. Box and Pallet interaction during the storage process impacts performance of cardboard. Vertical columns on pallets are best. Full overlap boxes are those whose flaps overlap each other entirely. The strategy provides stacking strength and protection for the edges.
For complete safe-keeping of the contents, a cardboard box needs to be sealed. There are several sealing mechanisms. One chooses the device that best suits their needs. Some of them include hot melt or water resistant adhesive, staples, box sealing tape, filament tape- this activates upon pressure exertion, and shrink wrap. Usually, shrink wrap serves as a plastic protection that hugs the cardboard. It protects the box and its contents from the elements
Cardboard boxes are made from 30-100 percent recycled material. They are recyclable themselves as they are an excellent source of fiber and can be reused. To ensure the best reusing experience, one should make sure that the box is free from rips and water damage. Cardboard tools are cheaper alternatives to plastic storage boxes and are even better for the environment.
Given that fiberboard is a readily available yet inexpensive raw material, it gives easy access to the boxes to the consumers. The other benefit is that there are those offered in lightweight. Every consumer has the freewill to go for boxes matching their needs. When transporting items, you will experience high efficiency, given that convenience is guaranteed. Customization is also a benefit you get to enjoy. Depending on the capacity and fitness of your items, you choose boxes taking the design to avoid damaging your valuables. Precisely, use of these cases carries a load of benefits. It impacts your marketing strategy in a big way. Mentioned are just some of the advantages. It is until you invest in them that you will experience them in full capacity.
Have you ever bought into the idea that artists are “weird” or “crazy”? It’s a notion that’s passed around pretty often, and I think it’s pretty unfair to deem them as such considering the negative connotations to both words. In reality, those who create are typically abnormal from the status quo simply because they’re thinkers and do things their own way. In fact, they don’t buy into the idea of normal or weird, they just exist under their own assumptions and are in fact pretty intelligent individuals.
Since artists are typically seen as people who paint or draw, that’s all that comes to mind for the majority who hear the words art or artist. But the fact of the matter is that there’s a much larger range of media that artists can use, pretty much as wide as the human imagination allows. For example, there is virtual reality art, there’s art with recycled materials, and there’s even art made using human volunteers. Pretty interesting stuff, isn’t it?
Anyway, I’ll get of my rant about artists and how cool they actually are. Today we’ll be mentioning how cardboard boxes can be used in an artist’s range of media and tools. Even if the cardboard doesn’t end up displayed in the art itself, it’s incredibly useful and versatile for artists.
First off, if you’ve never seen cardboard art, you’re seriously missing out. I came across cardboard art for the first time about a year ago at this Halloween fest that’s local, and the guy who ran the stall had some extremely good pieces for sale. What’s cool for artists who are interested in this medium is that materials are basically free (outside of the paint used).
Since a handful of mediums in the art world involve messy materials that can permanently stain things, having something around to reduce splatter or stray paint really helps any aspiring artist. Heck, splatter art itself is one of the messiest types of art out there, and it warrants use of some cardboard boxes because of that alone. While giant tarps are probably the most commonly used materials to help reduce messes in the world of art, breaking down a handful of boxes will work in a pinch. This is especially true if you’re looking to do something ASAP and don’t have the time to go out and get plastic tarps, or if you just don’t want to fork out the money. Cardboard is easy and it’s cheap. Rely on it when needed.
