Hi! I am Pravesh Singh, currently pursuing  Ph.D. in Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur under the supervision of Prof. Shivam Tripathi. The main focus of my research is to partition evapotranspiration into transpiration & evaporation of rice and wheat crops. It is essential to measure these components separately as transpiration is considered useful, while evaporation is considered a loss. However, due to the difficulties in measuring them separately, they are generally combined and referred to as evapotranspiration. Combining these two has several disadvantages as they have different spatial & temporal scales and different feedback mechanisms. Our research aims to enhance the understanding of eco-hydrological processes within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, help evaluate crop yield, and promote the development of better water management practices. The data we collect can be used as model inputs in hydrological studies.
