Remote Sensing and GIS (Geographic Information System) are the tools of the present. The advancement in this field along with the availability of open-source satellite data have opened the world to its wide range of its application and uses. Pravaaha-2022 invites all to prepare maps utilizing the various open-source remote sensing data and GIS platforms.
“Bhuchitra” aims to build maps for Indian regions using GIS mapping tools , to grasp the potential of remote sensing technology. The open-source satellite data has enormous potential for mapping India's resources, agriculture, climate and disaster management, rural and urban planning, and determining future growth pathways. The teams will collaborate to create thematic maps at National/State/District level boundaries within India.
A team can choose any of the problem statements from the list given below or select a topic of their choice related to Hydrology, Hydraulics, Water Resources , Disaster Management, and allied topics.
Mapping of water resources and allied man-made features.
Impact of Land-Use Land-Cover (LULC) Change on water resources.
Floods and Drainage Maps.
Detection of change in Waterbodies / Reservoirs / Wetlands.
Mapping future water and climate change.
Impact of climate change on hydrological processes.
Disaster Management
Soil Mapping/ Wetland Mapping/ Irrigation Management
Choose your own topic .
The event shall be conducted in two phases:
Each team must submit an map along with a one-page report as asked in the problem statement
Shortlisted teams shall give a PICO presentation [ Duration : 100 seconds, strictly ] of their work during the Techfest [online mode]. The teams shall keep themselves ready for a small Q&A session after their PICO presentation.
Maps prepared using open source satellite data shall only be allowed. Satellite data and GIS application must be duly acknowledged in the document.
The judging panel shall consist of professors from the Department of Hydrology. The decision by the judges shall be considered final and irrevocable.
Eligibility: This event is open to all.
Team Size:
Maximum of 4 members. Individual participation is also allowed.
The participants of a single team need not be from the same college.
Each Team needs to have its own team name, and team leader.
