Pratik Patra graduated with a silver medal from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, earning a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering in 2014. Following this, he served as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) for three months. Subsequently, in August 2014, he commenced his role as an Assistant Professor under the esteemed MHRD Trainee Teacher Award (TTA) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur [Grade pay level - 10].

In 2018, he was selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship and joined as a research scholar in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi. Additionally, Pratik Patra is a recipient of the esteemed Fulbright scholarship and is currently engaged in research at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Davis, USA. His primary focus lies in the field of Structural Engineering, concentrating on dynamic and inelastic behavior of structures, ultra-low-cycle fatigue, performance-based seismic design, passive control techniques, seismic retrofitting and strengthening, as well as nonlinear modeling and analysis of steel and RC structures.
