Prabhat Ranjan Bana received a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur, India, in 2016, and a Master’s degree in power and energy systems specialization from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya, Shillong, India, in 2019. He worked toward a Ph.D. degree with the Department of Electric Power Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway from 2020 to 2023.
Currently, he is working as an R&D Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Vasteras, Sweden. His research focuses on developing stable and robust grid-forming controllers, enhanced STATCOMs, frequency and voltage support mechanisms for renewable energy systems, AI-based control of power electronics, and high-gain multilevel converters for solar photovoltaic applications.
He was also a Visiting Scholar at Cardiff University, U.K., from January to March 2019, funded by the Joint U.K.-India Clean Energy (JUICE) exchange program. From July 2019 to February 2020, he served as a Research Associate at NIT Meghalaya. He has authored or co-authored over 15 Transactions/journal papers in IEEE, and other reputed publications. He also holds two patents. Prabhat is an active reviewer for various IEEE, IET, and Wiley journals.
