Pourglass ("the app") is published by Muhammad Uneeb Khan

Pourglass is a single-player puzzle game. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no comments, no chat, no leaderboards and no social features. We never ask for your name, your email or any other personal information, and we do not have servers of our own.
The app does show advertising, supplied by Google AdMob, it measures basic usage with Google Firebase Analytics, monitors performance with Google Firebase Performance Monitoring, and reports its own crashes through Google Firebase Crashlytics so that faults can be found and fixed. You can remove the advertising permanently with a one-time purchase, or for a year at a time with a subscription. Removing the advertising does not switch analytics or crash reporting off.
The app saves your progress on your device only:
which levels you have finished and how many stars each earned
your coin balance and the achievements you have unlocked
the puzzle you are part-way through, so you can pick it up again
your settings: sound, haptics, theme, colour glyphs, high-contrast palette, reduce motion, and whether you have already seen the tutorial and each mechanic's first-time explanation
when you last saw a full-screen ad, a returning-to-the-app ad and a rewarded coin top-up, and how many levels you have finished, so the app can space its offers out
your advertising consent answer, where one was asked for, written and read by Google's consent SDK rather than by us
This never leaves your device except through Android's own backup service, if you have that switched on. That backup is handled by Google under your own Google account, not by us — we cannot see it or retrieve it.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Inside the app, Settings > Reset progress erases your progress and the puzzle in play; your settings and the ad pacing timings stay until you uninstall.
The app can send you a daily reminder notification at 12 PM to encourage you to play. This is completely optional: when you first install the app, it asks for your permission, and you can change your mind at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Pourglass > Notifications, or inside the app at Settings > Notifications.
These notifications are scheduled locally on your device. They do not come from our servers (we have none), they do not track whether you opened them, and they do not collect any data about you. The notification simply says it's time to play and opens the app when tapped. You can turn them off whenever you like, and the app works exactly the same whether notifications are on or off.
On certain devices (Xiaomi, Redmi, Vivo, Oppo, Realme) that aggressively restrict background apps, the app may request battery optimization exemption to ensure scheduled notifications work reliably. This request appears as a system settings screen after you grant notification permission. Granting this exemption does not allow the app to run in the background continuously; it only ensures that scheduled notification alarms are not killed by the system. This is entirely optional and only affects notification reliability.
The app uses Google AdMob to show four kinds of advertisement: a banner, a full-screen ad between levels, a full-screen ad when you return to the app, and rewarded ads you choose to watch in exchange for coins.
To do that, AdMob collects and processes:
your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier, not your name)
device information: model, operating system version, language, coarse region
how the ads performed: whether one was shown, viewed, or tapped
approximate location derived from your IP address
We never see any of this as individual data. We only see aggregate reports — how many ads were shown and what they earned.
Google's use of this data is governed by its own policies:
How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You control the advertising ID. On Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can reset it or delete it entirely. Deleting it stops personalised ads; you will still see ads, just less relevant ones. Google's own ad controls are at https://myadcenter.google.com.
Where the law requires it, in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and the regulated US states, the app shows Google's certified consent form before it requests a single ad, and requests none until you have answered. Your answer is recorded by Google's consent SDK and stored on your device. You can change it whenever you like: Settings > Privacy options, which reopens the same form. That entry only appears where the form applies.
Everywhere else no consent form is required, and ads are requested with Google's default settings, which means they may be personalised using the advertising ID.
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics, and only its automatic collection: the app logs no events of its own, so nothing about how you play an individual level is recorded or sent. Firebase records app opens, session starts and Play purchase events, along with a randomly generated app instance ID, device model, operating system version and a coarse region derived from your IP address. It does not collect your name, your email or your precise location. Analytics keeps running after you buy the ad-free upgrade.
The app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to find out when it breaks. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a report containing the technical details of the failure: the stack trace, the device model, the operating system version, the app version, how long the app had been running, and a randomly generated installation identifier. It does not include your name, your email, your location, or anything about the puzzles you have played.
These reports exist so that a fault which only appears on certain devices can be found and fixed. They are not used for advertising, and they are not shared with advertisers. Crash reporting is only active in the published version of the app; builds made during development do not send reports.
Performance Monitoring
The app uses Google Firebase Performance Monitoring to measure how quickly levels load and how smoothly the app runs. It collects technical performance data: screen load times, app startup time, device model, operating system version, and a randomly generated installation identifier. It does not collect your name, your email, your location, or anything about the puzzles you have played.
These performance metrics help us identify slow screens or devices where the app runs poorly, so we can optimize it. Performance data is not used for advertising and is not shared with advertisers.
Ad removal is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we never see your card details, your billing address, or your name. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase for this app is valid.
Ad removal is sold as two products: a one-time purchase that is permanent, and an auto-renewing yearly subscription. Purchases are tied to your Google account and the app asks Play to restore them each time it starts, so reinstalling restores them. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play > Payments and subscriptions.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with anyone other than the service providers named above. We have no servers, no user accounts and no way to contact you. We do not track you across other apps or websites ourselves.
We hold no data about you ourselves, so there is nothing on our side to look up, export or delete. Everything is controlled either on your device or by Google. To stop personalised advertising, reset or delete the advertising ID in Android Settings > Google > Ads. To remove advertising altogether, use the one-time purchase or the yearly subscription; this does not switch analytics off. To erase your progress, use Settings > Reset progress. To erase everything, uninstall the app. Data already collected by Google through the advertising and analytics in this app is held by Google under its own privacy policy, and access or deletion requests for it go to Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We keep nothing, so we have no retention period of our own. How long Google keeps what it collects is set by Google. For questions or requests about this app, including from the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or California, email uneebk36@gmail.com and we will answer.
The app requests one runtime permission on Android 13 and above:
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — allows the app to send you the optional daily reminder. Asked after your second level is completed. You can deny it or revoke it at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Pourglass > Notifications.
All other permissions are granted automatically at install time or merged from Google's libraries. The app does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, or your files. It does not request storage access.
Automatically granted permissions:
INTERNET — to fetch ads, send analytics, and load Firebase services
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to check if a connection is available before requesting ads
AD_ID — access to the resettable advertising identifier for personalized ads
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID — Android's Privacy Sandbox advertising APIs (Android 13+)
WAKE_LOCK — allows Firebase to keep the device awake briefly while uploading analytics or crash reports in batches
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — reschedules notification reminders after device restart. This does not give the app any ability to start itself or run in the background; it only restores the notification schedule you already set.
BILLING — processes ad-free upgrade purchases through Google Play
BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE — attributes installs to Google ad campaigns
On certain devices (Xiaomi/MIUI, Vivo, Oppo, Realme), the app may request battery optimization exemption to ensure notifications are not killed by aggressive power management. This is optional and only affects notification reliability.
The app uses the following Google services:
Google AdMob — serves advertisements
Google Play Billing — processes purchases
Firebase Analytics — measures basic usage
Firebase Crashlytics — reports crashes
Firebase Performance — monitors app performance
Google Mobile Ads SDK — consent management (EEA/UK/regulated US states)
AndroidX Core Library — provides compatibility features for modern Android versions (edge-to-edge display)
Pourglass contains no content unsuitable for children: no violence, no gambling, no user-generated content and no way to contact another person.
It does contain advertising and a paid upgrade. We do not direct the app at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If the app is listed as appealing to children in Play Console, ad serving is restricted accordingly by Google.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
