Winner of the Storytelling Prize - Pacific Dataviz 2022
Pacific Standard Time (PST) is a Spatial Design Duo for Digital projects comprised of Sam Thomas and Pouarii Tanner working from Rarotonga on climate change issues.
In 2022, we created 'Cook Islands Terrestrial Protected Areas' a visualization using Google Earth which is simple, free, easy-to-access technology that ALL people could visualize the protected areas of the Cook Islands and be given the same data that sits in data sets like the Pacific Datahub. The challenge was to democratize access and understanding of these data sets and show how unique these parts of the world are and why they deserve to be protected.
