Hi, My names is Brad Buchanan. I am 38 years old.

This is how Jesus Christ changed my life.

About the age of 15 I started experimenting with drugs and alcohol.

I thought it was fun at first and just a cool thing to do. Before I knew it I was caught up in a scene that was taking control of my life.

By the age of 19 years, I was a complete alcoholic and injecting amphetamines and heroin. I thought I had control of it but before too long it was dominating and dictating my life. My lifestyle and all relationships all revolved around drugs.

Fast forward from there, I was working as a professional fisherman on a boat, earning very good money, but coming back from sea and spending it all on drugs, looking for euphoria and an escape from all my problems. These habits stripped me of everything, my happiness, my joy. I didn’t know who I was anymore, and I lost the desire to live. I was on the brink of suicide. I just wanted to end it all because my life was so chaotic.  I tried rehabilitation programs and counselling. These programs only worked for a short period of time, then I would be straight back on the drugs again.

Eventually, I came to a church, the Potters House, and I responded to the message I heard. I heard that Jesus could do miracles, and that Is what I needed. I responded and came to the altar and prayed a prayer of repentance. From that Jesus set me free from everything that I was bound by.

I was broken, but now I was whole again. Joy was restored to my heart. My mind was restored. Relationships that were damaged through drugs were rebuilt. I got my driving license back. I got a car and a job. I was now in my right mind, and I knew I was on the right path. Following Jesus and going to church was the answer to my problems. I found true salvation through the cross.

Jesus has set me free.
