2019 Flooding

INCIDENT DESCRIPTION:

Heavy early spring rainfalls exacerbated by melting snow pack runoff and frozen grounds led to significant flash flooding of the Missouri River, its tributaries, and streams starting March 12th and continuing. A persistent wet spring and summer, continued mountain snow melt, and increased reservoir releases in the Missouri River Basin caused multiple rounds of flooding through September. Flooding and high river levels plagued Pottawattamie County for over 9 months.
