أهلاً ومرحباً بكم في قطاع الدراسات العليا والبحوث بكلية البنات للآداب والعلوم والتربية جامعة عين شمس
The COVID-19 pandemic, which swept the world in 2020 was a major challenge that required academia worldwide to collaborate in understanding and confronting it. We, at the Faculty of Women, fully recognized the significance of this challenge; therefore, we brought together researchers from the various fields of science, humanities, and education to examine this pandemic from different angles and analyze its impact using sound scientific methodology.
When Professor Hanan Elshaer, vice dean for higher studies and research came up with the idea of this project, I was sure such a research project would unify the efforts of all disciplines in the study of the pandemic and would yield eye-opening results. I was also optimistic that it would increase the number of internationally published research papers from our institution which would allow us Egyptian women to contribute towards knowledge production around this unprecedented crisis.
The project motivated 20 researchers from different departments to work hard, reach conclusions, and publish research of the highest quality. But this would not have been possible without the immense support we received from the leadership of Ain Shams University. Thanks to Prof. Ayman Saleh, former vice president of Ain Shams University, both financial and moral support were offered to our researchers and the supervising committee, which helped them to achieve and feel appreciated.
At this point, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to every member of the COVID-19 research project on this outstanding success. I would like to thank the vice dean Prof. Hanan Elshaer, and the members of the committee: Professors Nadia Gharib, Soad Abdallah, and Magda Hasabelnaby for their invaluable guidance, mentorship, and support of the researchers. Throughout the project, they have demonstrated exceptional efforts, amazing skills, and a strong commitment to our common goals.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the researchers themselves, especially those who are publishing internationally for the first time. Your dedication, self-confidence, and hard work enabled you to gain a deeper understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic, its implications, and potential solutions. Your research would contribute towards enabling the world to face similar challenges in the future and would put Egyptian scholarship in a higher position. We are proud of your remarkable achievement and of the contributions you have made to universal knowledge production. I do not doubt that your findings and insights will contribute to the broader understanding and effective management not only of diseases and pandemics but of similar challenges that face our planet and threaten our common existence.
