(Here's the OC that gave the name for my persona aka Souta Arai!)
[Art dated back in May 28 2022]
I had to redraw this background based on a reference picture given by the client. When I showed this "finished" piece to him, he still wasn't satisfied because the flowers weren't red enough.
I did what I was told and fixed it up for him. Overall, I like the glow-y feel of the lights at night. I personally enjoyed rendering the tire and rocks the most. This commission managed to get me out of my comfort zone where I only draw people and characters.
This has to be my favourite drawing of all time because it includes my favourite colour - blue! I love the feel of the art, only that the brush I used gave off a bad texture for the mask.
The whole purpose of making this illustration is to study the effect of lighting on rendering, specifically the skin on the body which is the main focus of this exercise based on a reference picture of a real-life person.
At first there wasn't much purpose of creating this piece but after giving it a second thought, it was a great opportunity to experiment with different brushes and anatomy based on a reference from another artist.
This is another of those practice with shading, but the main focus is clothes this time. I can say that I'm proud of this one too because I managed to draw a self-insert scenario happening. Johnny is sitting with you at a café after a long day of work. I managed to submit this work to appear in my school's yearly magazine (2022 edition).
I was shocked to see how big this file is because it's worth 18MB ;0
Never fear, because I've already cropped and compressed this picture before putting it here. Since I haven't drawn anything for a long time, I can say that I'm proud of this one. If I were to apply for any zines, this is the art style I will use.
(Second version is made by adding effects from ibisPaint X)
Our class was assigned to make a synopsis of a novel called 'Tirani' written by Beb Sabariah and I took this as an opportunity to do a portrait study of the main character, Waheeda. The book cover shows the upper face hidden and here is what I imagine her to look like.
PS. I managed to complete this in less than 2 hours (surprisingly)
Like the title suggests, it's still a wip in which it will be used for promotion purposes for our ongoing zine. Again, I decided to experiment with brushes and I like how this one makes the hair more flowy. I haven't erased the leftover colouring at the hands when I uploaded this here, just to let you know.
Update: It still remains a wip until this very day 😂
I occasionally draw traditional pieces like this so that my skills won't fade away. It definitely helps with my anatomy practice too. Thanking my friend who suggested me to use Artline artistic pens for line art. Got to love the texture of the pen.
