Airline Data Management & Analysis using Power BI
This project focused on analyzing airline operations, passenger trends, and booking statuses using Power BI. The process began with cleaning and transforming raw datasets in Power Query Editor, including removing duplicates, handling missing values, and formatting data for consistency. Relationships between tables were created using FlightID as the primary key, ensuring accurate data modeling and optimized performance.
Advanced DAX measures were developed to calculate total passengers, total tickets booked, and performance-based classifications for flights. Interactive visuals — such as passenger count by airline, booking status distribution, and flights by destination — were combined into a fully functional dashboard with slicers, quick-view buttons, and airline-specific drill-through pages. The dashboard was deployed to the Power BI Service, with Row-Level Security (RLS) for restricted access and automated daily refresh scheduling.
Tools & Technologies Used: Power BI, Power Query, DAX, Data Modeling, Power BI Service
Key Outcomes:
Identified Airline A as the carrier with the highest passenger count.
Found that Airline D had the best on-time performance.
Discovered that a majority of tickets sold were eventually cancelled.
Impact:
The solution provided the airline management with a centralized, interactive platform to monitor key performance indicators in real-time. This led to improved operational decision-making, better performance tracking, and the ability to target problem areas — such as reducing cancellations and enhancing on-time flight performance.
