Portal.office.com

Portal.office.com

The Office 365 gallery (available by clicking “Explore all your apps” on www.office.com or directly at www.office.com/apps) enables users to launch, learn about, and explore all of the apps they have access to as part of their Office 365 subscription. The Office 365 gallery recently added access to third party apps you can log in to using your Azure Active Directory credentials (also known as AAD applications), which have been assigned to the user by their admin. You can discover them under the “Your company” or “Your school” tab. With this addition, the Office 365 gallery now provides the user, equivalent, functionality previously found at: portal.office.com

The Office 365 gallery also includes detailed app descriptions and recommendations for Office applications, based on a user’s usage patterns and what they are trying to accomplish. AAD applications are also now returned alongside Office applications in search results on www.office.com and the gallery. If an AAD app is opened via Search or from the Office 365 gallery, it will then be added to the recently-used application list on www.office.com.

Based on this functionality and plans to continually evolve the Office 365 gallery to help users take full advantage of their Office 365 subscriptions, we will retire the existing portal.office.com page by the end of the calendar year.

How does this affect me?

Once the change is implemented, users will be automatically redirected to the Office 365 gallery when navigating to portal.office.com.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

You don’t need to do anything, but may consider updating your user training, and notifying your helpdesk.
