I am a Senior Researcher (with tenure) in the Economics Department at IOS (Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies), Regensburg (Germany) and a Research Fellow at IZA-Institute of Labor Economics. I am a co-head of the Economics Section within the German Association for East European Studies (DGO).

I am an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics, the Journal of Happiness Studies, and of Comparative Southeast European Studies. In addition, I serve as a section editor for the Handbook "Labor, Human Resources and Population Economics". 

I am an applied microeconomist. RePEc ranks me in the top 6% female economists globally (based on publications in the last 10 years) and in the top 25% economists in Germany.  My research interests include Health and Environmental Economics, Sustainability, Development Economics, Economic History, and Applied Labor Economics
