Sophie Xeon, known mostly just as SOPHIE, was one of the most influential and important trailblazers of the current pop scene. After an early career as a DJ and producer on small projects, she released her debut single Nothing More To Say in 2013, but it wouldn't be until later that year, with BIPP that she would get attention from the music media and the Internet as well as critical acclaim; these releases allowed her to start working with the PC Music affiliates like A.G Cook and GFOTY and continue to release more of the material, which was praised for its forward-thinking nature, that was later compiled on the release PRODUCT. After several acclaimed collaborations with Charli XCX and production credits on songs by the likes of Madonna and Vince Staples, she released It's OK To Cry in 2017, which was not only the first time her face and vocals appeared in a release, but also her coming out as a trans woman; that release was the lead single of her album OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES, which was critically acclaimed and garnered a Grammy nomination, making her the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an Electronic category and the third transgender woman to be nominated for a Grammy overall. The next year she release her last album OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES NON-STOP REMIX ALBUM, featuring new remixes alongside alternative versions and new songs in a non-stop mix. Unfortunately she passed away in 2021 due to an accidental fall at the age of 34.

Known for her plastic-sounding music and sophisticated, hyper-kinetic production, SOPHIE's music style is considered the one that gave birth to the genre hyperpop, which has slowly started to infiltrate the mainstream sound, with SOPHIE's collaborations with the likes of Rihanna, cupcakKe and other popular performers being the ones that helped her to move the sound of pop music forward.
