Glee is a TV show co-created and developed by Ryan Murphy and starring Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea MIchele, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Darren Criss, Naya Rivera, Harry Shum Jr., Melissa Benoist and Alex Newell (among others) that aired between 2009 and 2015 for six seasons and 121 episodes at Fox. The show dealt with the lives of the members of a high school glee club in Ohio and featured performances of mostly covers songs of varied origin, ranging from showtunes to Top 40 hits. Following its premiere it became a critics and audience favorite and generally broke iTunes sales records thanks to its plethora of weekly releases and anticipation; around season 3 the show started to loose its place among the top shows on network television and, by season five following the death of main cast member Cory Monteith, it had reached all-time low ratings, all of that alongside diminishing critical reaction and generally poor reviews for the fifth season.

Musically, the show released multiple singles weekly that topped the iTunes charts and compilation albums that managed to chart greatly for the show's first seasons; this was accompanied by two tours (one international and the second across American arenas) and a series of original songs released through the show's lifetime. During its tun, the show charted a total of 207 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (most of them for only one week), including three top 10 hits and sold over 11 million singles and 4 million albums worldwide.

During its run, Glee won 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards and 1 American Music Award and was nominated for 3 Grammy Awards and 2 BAFTA Awards.
