I am a policy research fellow at DST-Centre for Policy Research Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. My research lies at the intersection of science and technology studies (STS), policy studies and development studies. More specifically, I am interested in the question of responsible innovation and governance of emerging technologies. My work at DST-CPR is focused on biofuel policies and innovation ecosystem for second generation (2G) bioethanol. This research is situated within the political economy of regional concerns around paddy stubble burning in Punjab and air pollution in Delhi, national concerns of energy security and international concerns of low carbon emission and climate change. Before my position at IISc, I was a post-doctoral fellow at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (MUSTS), Maastricht University, the Netherlands and a visiting post-doc fellow at Technical University (Berlin), Germany. I have received my PhD from Centre for Studies in Science Policy (CSSP), JNU, New Delhi. I have written on diverse issues that include nanotechnology start-ups and academic entrepreneurship, governance of agricultural biotechnology and nanotechnology, biofuel policy, STI policy, vulnerability of agrarian systems (in relation to paddy stubble burning), and recognition based justice as the basis for public participation in renewable energy transition projects.
