Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin: Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming.

Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited, topless sunbathers who turned heads in the 1970s. Robert Redford learned to swim at the pool when he was five years old while visiting family in Austin. Today, Barton Springs still attracts a diverse crowd of people and has seen record setting numbers of visitors nearing 800,000 in recent years.

8-Ball Pool is the most commonly played type of online pool in the United States and across most (but not all) of the world, and we believe our version is the best. But don't just take our word for hit - try your luck with our classic 8-ball pool game.

You can now use the "SET GLOBAL innodb_buffer_pool_size = xxxx" command which causes a resizing job to begin in background. We can monitor the progress and state of the resizing work using the Innodb_buffer_pool_resize_status variable and the server error log.

In order to minimize the impact of the resulting memory allocation/freeing process, thus avoiding huge memory copy tasks which would then block other transaction processing related tasks, the resizing is done in fixed size chunks. And because InnoDB is designed to use equally sized buffer pool instances, the total buffer pool size is (upper) aligned to a multiple of [innodb_buffer_pool_instancesĀ  innodb_buffer_pool_chunk_size].

All allocate/free/search calls for pages within the buffer pool are only blocked during the critical path in the resizing operation. The critical path consists of the following parts:

Naturally if there will now be too many dirty pages for the now smaller buffer pool then they will need to be flushed and then freed. This work could cause significant disk IO and thus could potentially indirectly interfere with other transaction related tasks while it runs.

Also of note, if a transaction has locks on any of the pages in the chunk to be freed, then the relocation of those pages should wait for the transaction end. So high transaction throughput or long running transactions can potentially block the buffer pool resize operation. Any resulting long waits are logged to the server error log file along with information about the suspected transactions that are causing the operation to wait/block.

Participant attentiveness is a concern for many researchers using Amazon's Mechanical Turk (MTurk). Although studies comparing the attentiveness of participants on MTurk versus traditional subject pool samples have provided mixed support for this concern, attention check questions and other methods of ensuring participant attention have become prolific in MTurk studies. Because MTurk is a population that learns, we hypothesized that MTurkers would be more attentive to instructions than are traditional subject pool samples. In three online studies, participants from MTurk and collegiate populations participated in a task that included a measure of attentiveness to instructions (an instructional manipulation check: IMC). In all studies, MTurkers were more attentive to the instructions than were college students, even on novel IMCs (Studies 2 and 3), and MTurkers showed larger effects in response to a minute text manipulation. These results have implications for the sustainable use of MTurk samples for social science research and for the conclusions drawn from research with MTurk and college subject pool samples.

The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) invites applicants to a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in residential and online education formats. The teaching includes Fall and Spring classroom instruction, On-Campus/Online Master of Public Health (OOMPH) online education program, the UCB/UCSF Joint Medical Program (JMP), and Berkeley Summer Sessions. Screening of applicants is ongoing, and the number of available positions varies throughout the year.

The intent of this program is to protect public health and safety at public recreational facilities, which include swimming pools, wading pools, spas, water slides and scholastic competition pools, and at hotel, motel and condominium pools. No person shall install, operate or maintain a public bathing facility unless the construction, design and physical specifications have received prior approval. Private residential pools are exempt from this program. The State currently monitors conditions at more than 1,200 bathing facilities.

This workshop includes hands-on learning activities conducted in a pool pump room, followed by the course review and proctored exam.

This topic describes how site admins can configure and manage pooling for Bridge clients. Pooling allows clients across the site to load balance data freshness tasks for data sources or virtual connections that connect to private network data.

The purpose of a pool is to distribute (or load balance) data freshness tasks among the available clients in a pool whose access is scoped to a domain within your private network. Pools map to domains, giving you the ability to dedicate pools to keeping specific data fresh and maintaining security by restricting access to protected domains in your private network.

Although the client in the pool that performs the data freshness task is chosen at random, if for whatever reason a client can no longer perform the task, the task is automatically rerouted to another available client in the pool to handle the task. There is no additional intervention required from you or your users to support or manage the pool of clients.

Only site admins, or users with either the Site Administrator or Site Administrator Creator role, can configure and maintain pooled clients. Regardless of the type of user authenticated into the client, only site admins can add new pools, add clients to a pool, remove clients from a pool, and monitor clients in a pool.

Pools, which require Bridge 2021.4 (or later) clients, help route live query and extract refresh jobs to the appropriate private network. Use pools to access data distributed across multiple private networks, enable extract refreshes for file-based data sources, and to support data freshness tasks for virtual connections.

In other cases, the Connections tab might not list the server name. When the server name is not listed, consider working with the content owner to identify where the data is hosted and specify the server name in the allowlist when you have that information. As a temporary alternative, you can skip to Step 4: Add clients to a pool to assign clients to use the Default Pool instead. 006ab0faaa
