Hi there! Welcome to Polyhymnia's Veil, a collection of poems, short stories, and random words thrown together in hopes that they splatter against a wall in some recognizable manner. For those wondering about the name of the collection, Polyhymnia is the Greek muse of sacred poetry (apparently not to be confused with her sister, Calliope, the muse of epic poetry), and she is commonly depicted with a veil symbolizing contemplation. Fun!
I'm Anthony, a law student currently studying at the University of Cambridge. I love Eugene O'Niell, cooking good food, and not doing my degree. I'm not a good writer, but I like to do it, so alas... the internet will forever be cursed with my words.
This blog is mostly meant for my poetry, but it will also be a place for my essays and other critical work, as well as some snippets of fiction writing. I hope you enjoy your stay!
All works will be organized into a category, pithily named into a place. The areas to explore are as follows:
A collection for almost all my (good) poetry. Words are like flowers and plants, I hope that each little plant I breathe and ink into life makes this garden just a little prettier.
This is a fun place! I put almost every other poem I write into this little bin of thoughts, and if it ends up in here, it was probably borne from my imagination at 3 am with absolutely no filter involved.
Short stories and maybe even long stories are the bulk of this section. These will probably be rare and in between, so maybe don't go looking for me to add to this section very often.
This is for any miscellaneous writing that doesn't fit into the other sections. It might be a book review, it might be a rant, it might simply be a keyboard smash that I thought was particularly inspiring.
And that's it! links to all of these can be found at the top of the page.
