PRIVACY AT A GLANCE

Polyglot AI is built with a privacy-first philosophy. We do not create accounts,

do not sell your data, and do not store your translation history on any server.

Everything you translate stays on your device — except the text sent to our

translation API in the moment of processing.

1. WHO WE ARE

Polyglot AI ("we", "our", or "us") is the developer of the Polyglot AI iOS

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHY

2.1  Text you enter for translation

     When you type or paste text into the translation field, that text is

     transmitted to our cloud translation API to produce a result. The text is

     used solely to fulfill your translation request. We do not log, store, or

     retain this content on our servers after the response is delivered.

2.2  Voice input

     When you use the microphone button, Apple's on-device Speech Recognition

     framework converts your speech to text locally on your device. The resulting

     text string is then handled the same way as typed text (see 2.1). Audio

     recordings are never uploaded to our servers.

2.3  Camera and photo input (OCR)

     When you point the camera at text or select a photo from your library,

     Apple's Vision framework extracts the text locally on your device using

     on-device machine learning. No image or photo is ever sent to our servers.

     Only the extracted text string is processed for translation (see 2.1).

2.4  Translation history and favorites

     All translation history, saved phrases, and favorites are stored exclusively

     on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is never

     synchronized to our servers. You can delete all history at any time from

     the History tab > Clear All.

2.5  User preferences and onboarding data

     Your chosen native language, target language, and use case (Education,

     Travel, Research, or Business) are stored locally in iOS UserDefaults.

     This data never leaves your device.

2.6  Clipboard content

     If you enable the optional "Quick Translate" feature, the App may read the

     current clipboard contents when you return to the App to offer a one-tap

     translation suggestion. Clipboard content is processed identically to typed

     text and is never stored.

2.7  Information we do NOT collect

     - No name, email address, or contact information

     - No Apple ID or social sign-in data

     - No device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV)

     - No location data

     - No analytics or crash-reporting telemetry (in this version)

     - No payment information (there are no in-app purchases in v1.0)

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

3.1  Translation API (Replicate / OpenAI GPT-4.1-mini)

     Text translation is powered by a large language model (GPT-4.1-mini) hosted

     on Replicate's infrastructure. When you trigger a translation, the source

     text and target language code are sent over HTTPS to Replicate's API.

     Replicate processes the request and returns the translated text. We do not

     store query content on our side; Replicate's own privacy terms govern their

     handling of API requests.

3.2  Apple system frameworks

     The App uses the following Apple frameworks, all of which operate under

     Apple's privacy practices:

4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

The only personal information we process is the text you submit for translation.

We use it solely to:

  - Deliver the translated result to you in the App.

  - Generate daily phrase suggestions tailored to your chosen learning domain.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, resale, or any purpose

beyond providing the translation service you requested.

5. DATA RETENTION

Translation requests are sent to the API and the response is returned to you.

We retain no server-side logs of your translation queries. All user-generated

content (history, favorites, preferences) lives on your device and persists

until you delete it or uninstall the App.

6. DATA SECURITY

All communication between the App and the translation API is encrypted using

TLS 1.2 or higher (HTTPS). Any API credentials stored in the App are protected

using iOS Keychain Services. We follow Apple's App Transport Security (ATS)

requirements. No sensitive data is stored in cleartext on your device.

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Because we do not maintain a user account or server-side database linked to you,

most data subject rights are exercised directly on your device:

  - Delete translation history:  History tab > Clear All

  - Delete saved phrases:        Phrasebook tab > swipe to delete

  - Reset all preferences:       Delete and reinstall the App

  - Revoke camera permission:    iOS Settings > Polyglot AI > Camera > off

  - Revoke microphone:           iOS Settings > Polyglot AI > Microphone > off

  - Revoke photo library:        iOS Settings > Polyglot AI > Photos > off

  - Revoke speech recognition:   iOS Settings > Polyglot AI > Speech Recog. > off

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or

California (CCPA), you have additional rights. Please contact us at

bang77bang88@gmail.com to exercise those rights.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Polyglot AI is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a

child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will

promptly delete it.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

When you use the cloud translation feature, your text is sent to Replicate's

servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using

the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in

countries with different data protection laws than your own. We rely on

Replicate's standard contractual commitments for such transfers.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update

the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App

after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For

significant changes, we will display an in-app notice.
