AVAILMENT OF USD200 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR OVERSEAS

FILIPINO WORKERS (OFWS) DISPLACED DUE TO COVID-19

In view of the Department Order No. 212, Series of 2020 of the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (“DOLE” or the “Department”) entitled “Prescribing Guidelines on the Provision of Financial Assistance for Displaced Landbased and Seabased Overseas Filipino Workers(OFWs) due to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)”, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Milan, Italy (POLO Milan) would like to inform our OFWs in Milan and Northern Italy that it is now receiving ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR DOLE-AKAP, a one- time financial assistance of the Department amounting to USD200.00 or its local currency equivalent.

Coverage and Eligibility

The following landbased and seabased OFWs onsite are qualified to avail the DOLE-AKAP, to wit:

a. Regular/ documented OFW (under POEA rules); or

b. Qualified undocumented OFW (as stated in the DOLE Guidelines).

To apply for financial assistance from POLO Milan, the abovementioned OFWs should have experienced job displacement due to COVID-19 and should not have received or are not entitled to receive financial aid from their employer or from the Italian government.

Documentary Requirements

The following documents shall be submitted ONLINE, together with the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM (via Document/File Upload) for assessment:

a. Copy of valid passport;

b. Permit to Stay;

c. Proof of documented status (e.g. OEC, verified contract, etc.);

d. Proof of loss of employment on account of COVID19 (e.g. notice of termination, certification from employer, etc.); and

e. POLO Milan may require additional document/s as necessary for its assessment.

Application Procedure

  • Upon receipt of the complete documents, we shall evaluate the application within five (5) working days and notify the OFW-applicant on the status of his/her application within five (5) working days following the evaluation.

  • Ineligibility of the applicant, misrepresentation of facts in the application, and submission of falsified documents are grounds for denial / disapproval of the application.

Disbursement of Funds

  • If the application has been pre-qualified, the release of financial assistance shall primarily be through bank transfer or bonifIco to the bank account of the applicant.
