Project: Restoration of the Polo Regional Health Clinic and People's Dignity
On the remote Island of Choiseul there stands a delapidated building, they call this their regional Health Clinic. This facility services over 2000 local villagers with first line emergency care, antenatal, postpartum and newborn care with an average of 15 births a month. This facility also provides the only available clinical management for victims of rape and domestic abuse. The clinic is in a severe state of disrepair and urgently needs restoration to continue serving the community safely and effectively.

Approximately 1,000 people live in the village of Polo in North Choiseul. The regional clinic located there also serves at least another 1,000 people from surrounding smaller villages. The nearest hospital is five hours away by canoe.
A team from the Solomon Islands Wesleyan Methodist Church has visited the area to assess the situation and has produced a formal report outlining the work that needs to be undertaken. See more here

The answer is nearly aways, shortage of funds. In response to the ongoing neglect of this clinic, the Choiseul District of the Wesleyan Methodist Church applied for a grant from the Solomon Islands Australia Community Partnership Fund. Although we believe the application met all the necessary criteria, it was unfortunately unsuccessful.
However, we have now received permission from the Solomon Island Ministry of Health to begin fundraising to complete the works outlined in the original proposal. . Please help us make this vital project a reality!
