A seven-acre demonstration garden developed and maintained by the OSU Polk County Master Gardeners and operated in cooperation with the City of Independence, Inspiration Garden is among the city's most successful urban renewal projects, and it's most inspirational!
This site was donated to the City of Independence when Mt. Fir Lumber Company closed and it became Mt. Fir Park. In 2012, OSU Polk County Master Gardeners approached the city with a proposal to reclaim the derelict piece of land and develop a Demonstration Garden. The City agreed, generous donations from businesses and individuals came in, and the work began!
Thank you for visiting, and enjoy all that this special garden has to offer!

MASTER GARDENERS ARE HERE TO HELP!
Oregon's Extension Master Gardener Mission: Cultivating resilient and healthy communities throughout Oregon through sustainable horticulture education and gardening projects that are rooted in science and that are supported by OSU Extension volunteers.
Vision: We provide accessible and equitable education programs that nurture life-long learners and volunteers who can expand the reach and impact of science-based sustainable gardening practices to benefit all Oregonians.
Each Master Gardener volunteer has attended the 60 hour Oregon State University Master Gardener™ Training in various horticulture disciplines and performed 60 hours of volunteer work on specific Polk County Master Gardener projects. We many not always know the answers to your gardening questions, but we know how to help you find answers!
WHO CAN BECOME A MASTER GARDENER?
Potential Master Gardeners are not required to have gardening experience but rather the yearning and motivation to learn and to garden. The Polk County Master Gardener™ Program provides a wide variety of educational opportunities to the residents of Polk County.
