If you want a dedicated, high-performance lubricant engineered specifically for the extreme demands of Polaris off-road engines and towing heavy loads in varying climates, choose Polaris PS-4; if you need a complete, ready-to-use maintenance solution for your Yamaha Grizzly with all necessary components included, choose THE EDWARDS MOTORSPORTS & RVS COMPANY Oil.
• Polaris PS-4: Offers superior thermal stability and engine protection through a custom additive system designed for high-stress conditions, but it is a single-purpose fluid requiring you to source filters separately.
• THE EDWARDS MOTORSPORTS & RVS COMPANY Oil: Delivers a hassle-free convenience by bundling oil, an OEM filter, gaskets, and tools into one kit, yet it is strictly limited to specific Yamaha models rather than offering universal performance.
• Best for: The rider prioritizing long-term engine longevity and wide temperature tolerance picks Polaris; the owner looking for a quick, all-in-one service kit for their Yamaha picks Edwards.
The Polaris PS-4 Full Synthetic 5W-50 All-Season Engine Oil is built for riders who push their machines to the absolute limit. This isn't just generic motor oil; it is a full synthetic formula crafted specifically for Polaris powersports engines. The core strength here lies in its unique 5W-50 viscosity range. While many oils struggle when the mercury drops or climbs, this formulation is engineered to handle ambient temperatures from -40°F to 100°F without losing its protective properties. If you take your vehicle out for early morning rides in freezing conditions or tackle midday trails under a scorching sun, this oil maintains its thickness and flow exactly where it matters most.
What truly sets this product apart is the custom additive system. Polaris didn't just mix chemicals; they formulated a specific suite to reduce engine deposits and prevent critical component wear. In the world of off-roading, engines face intense vibrations, dust, and sudden shifts in load. The PS-4 fights back by preventing oxidation and controlling moisture within the engine to stop rust and corrosion before they start. This focus on internal cleanliness and protection extends the life of your engine significantly. For anyone using their machine for towing or hauling heavy gear over rough terrain, the ability to maintain peak performance under these intense conditions is not a luxury—it is a necessity.
You should buy this if you own a Polaris off-road 4-stroke engine and demand the highest level of protection available. It is the only choice that guarantees engineering approval for maintaining peak performance in your specific brand of machine. However, you should skip this if you are looking for a quick fix that includes everything needed for an oil change. This is a pure fluid solution. You will still need to purchase your own oil filter, o-rings, and perhaps a funnel separately. It is a premium product for a premium job, but it requires you to do the legwork of gathering the rest of the parts yourself.

On the other side of the aisle sits THE EDWARDS MOTORSPORTS & RVS COMPANY Oil, which takes a completely different approach to vehicle maintenance. This is not sold as a standalone bottle of lubricant but as a comprehensive Oil Change Kit. It is designed with a singular, practical goal in mind: to make changing the oil on your Yamaha Grizzly as easy as possible. The kit is tailored specifically for the 2007 through 2014 Yamaha Grizzly models, covering the 350, 400, and 450 Auto 2WD/4WD EPS HUNTER variants. If you own one of these specific machines, this kit eliminates the guesswork entirely.
Inside the box, you get three quarts of Yamalube 10W-40 all-purpose engine oil, which is the correct viscosity for these Yamaha engines. But the real value proposition is what else comes along. Most people dread the hunt for the right filter, the perfect o-ring, and the clean-up supplies. Edwards solves this by including an OEM oil filter, fresh o-rings, a convenient funnel, and even nitrile gloves. This transforms a potentially messy, time-consuming task into a straightforward weekend project. The inclusion of the filter and seals means you don't have to worry about compatibility issues or buying the wrong part number. It is a "grab-and-go" solution that respects the user's time.
This product is ideal for the Yamaha owner who wants a complete service experience without visiting a dealership or running multiple errands to gather parts. It is perfect for DIYers who appreciate having every tool and component required for the job right there in the package. However, you must skip this if your vehicle is not a 2007-2014 Yamaha Grizzly, as the specific combination of the oil, filter, and hardware will not fit other makes or models. It is also less suitable if you are looking for a full-synthetic, wide-range oil like the PS-4, as this kit uses a standard all-purpose oil suited for the general operating conditions of the Grizzly rather than extreme temperature extremes.

After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally choose the Polaris PS-4 if my primary concern was protecting a Polaris engine during heavy-duty use or towing. The 5W-50 full synthetic formula offers a level of thermal resilience and anti-wear protection that generic oils simply cannot match, especially when conditions turn harsh. That said, if I were owning a 2007-2014 Yamaha Grizzly and just wanted to get the job done quickly without hunting for parts, I would reach for the Edwards kit immediately. Its completeness makes it unbeatable for that specific application. Ultimately, for serious off-road work where engine longevity is paramount, the specialized engineering of the Polaris oil gives me more peace of mind.
No, the Polaris PS-4 is specifically engineered and approved only for Polaris off-road 4-stroke engines. Using it on a Yamaha could void warranties or fail to meet the manufacturer's lubrication requirements.
Yes, the kit includes an OEM oil filter along with the 3 quarts of Yamalube 10W-40 oil, o-rings, a funnel, and nitrile gloves, making it a complete all-in-one solution.
Absolutely. The 5W-50 viscosity allows the oil to function effectively in ambient temperatures as low as -40°F, ensuring proper flow and protection during winter riding.
Choosing the Edwards kit saves time and ensures part compatibility by bundling the exact oil, filter, and seals needed for your specific Yamaha model, removing the risk of buying the wrong items.
