One way to get new and unique Pokemon in Aetherium is through breeding. With the ever mysterious Myst flowing through the continent, a lot of baby Pokemon end up affected by it in one way or another; whether through direct contact or genetically through their parents in the form of traits. This page will give you a rundown of breeding mechanics and how they work so you can get to making your own creative little bundles of joy.
As of now, members of Pokemon Aetherium can initiate breedings twice a week. Every Sunday is when the week rolls over, so if you submit two breedings on Saturday, you can immediately submit two more breedings once Sunday hits if you so desire.
Once a week, if a member decides to Void (not Donate) an entire clutch, they will regain that breeding slot back. This also applies to if two members breed their Pokemon together and one member decides to relinquish the entire clutch to the other person.
In order for a Pokemon to breed they must have an accepted reference sheet with up to date information, be at least level 15, and be at least two weeks old. We don't want any baby Pokemon themselves being bred after all! If anything about either Pokemon doesn't meet these requirements in your breeding request, it will be denied. Note that Pokemon can only breed once per week.
Members can have up to 15 undrawn clutches before they can't breed any more.
To get started with a breeding, just send a comment on our Breeding Journal in the group with the following form:
Mother Pokemon:
Species: (Pokemon's species with reference sheet linked)
Type: (The Pokemon's type)
Level: (Make sure it's up to date on reference sheet as well)
Traits: (Altered, Shiny, Shifted, or Chimera)
Owner: (Use @ code)
Father Pokemon:
Species: (Pokemon's species with reference sheet linked)
Type: (The Pokemon's type)
Level: (Make sure it's up to date on reference sheet as well)
Traits: (Altered, Shiny, Shifted, or Chimera)
Owner: (Use @ code)
Items Used: (Nectars, Oval Charms, etc. If breeding with another person, please specify who will be supplying the items!)
Once your breeding is sent in and everything checks out on both parents, your clutch will be rolled! Clutches can have 2-4 Pokemon in them normally and 4-8 if an Oval Charm is used! The Pokemon rolled in clutches will already have designated species and traits on them with some leeway for added traits. For example say we bred the following two Pokemon together:
Female Altered Poliwrath - Level 100
Male Altered Swampert/Azumarill - Level 100
Results:
Shiny, Altered, Female Mudkip 2x Chimera, with Ability 1!
Shiny, Male Azurill 2x Chimera, with Ability 2!
2x Shifted, Male Mudkip, with Ability 1!
Shiny, Shifted, Male Mudkip, with Ability 2!
Possible Shifted Typings: Normal, Water, Fighting, Ground, Fairy
Possible Chimera Species: Poliwag, Mudkip, Azurill
All pokemon must have a typing from each of their base species.
Now let's take a moment to dissect these results and what they mean. Four Pokemon were rolled for the clutch; three Mudkip and an Azurill. However when a Pokemon is also rolled as a Chimera, there's a bit more freedom in what you want to make. The 2x Chimera in the results means that two more Pokemon species can be added onto the stated Pokemon from the list at the bottom of the results; in the case of the first Mudkip, the options would be Poliwag and Azurill. The same goes for Shifted traits. In the case of the third Mudkip in our results, you can choose 2 extra types to add to the Pokemon from the list at the bottom. This can even include making the Pokemon a Boosted type if you so choose!
So if we wanted to make final decisions of what the babies from this clutch were, they could potentially look like this:
Of course with more Pokemon in Chimeras and types in Shifted Pokemon, more and more possibilities open up for making your own unique Pokemon! Do note that possible Chimera species and possible Shifted typings come directly from the parents, so be sure to breed the Pokemon with the species and typings you want to have them pop up in the lists!
Now let's talk about items. There's a handful of items that can be used to increase chances of certain traits popping up when you're breeding your Pokemon. This way if you're aiming for more Chimeras, you can use certain items to skew the results in your favor. Below is a list of our current breeding items and their impact on breeding results:
As of right now, only one item can be used per breeding. This is subject to change as the group and its mechanics develop.
*Note that if you're breeding Pokemon with another person and you use a White Herb, your breeding partner needs to reply to your comment confirming this is okay*
In addition to the percentage increases brought on by items, there are a few other factors that increase odds of traits popping up in breedings:
So now you have your clutch rolled and you're happy with your results. What do you do next? Next is replying to the breeding results and letting the mod who rolled them know which Pokemon you want to keep from the clutch to draw. The remaining Pokemon can either be Voided or Donated.
- Voided Pokemon are treated as if they were never rolled in the first place.
- Donated Pokemon are Pokemon you immediately relinquish to the Adoption Center for another member to adopt.
Once that's done the next thing is drawing your clutch! All clutch babies need to be drawn and accepted into the group before they can do anything else in the group. This includes having reference sheets drawn, participating in events, and even being in an inventory.
Aetherium allows the creation of DYO (do your own) and CYO (color your own) clutch Pokemon. Do note that DYO/CYO Pokemon must be fully drawn, colored, and accepted into the group before the Pokemon can be transferred in.
All clutches must have the following information listed in the description:
*Each Pokemon must be listed with their Species, Traits, Type, Gender, and Ability!*
All clutch Pokemon start at level 1 with 10 in each stat.
Once your clutch has been accepted into the group, head on over to the Transfer Journal to transfer the Pokemon to yours or someone else's inventory! Even if a clutch is accepted into the group, forgetting to use the Transfer Journal will result in the babies not being in anyone's inventory until the comment is sent.
When two members do a breeding together, we now require both members to reply with how they'll be splitting the clutch and whether or not any Pokemon will be Voided or Donated before it's drawn. This is to ensure that both parties are getting the Pokemon they want and won't have Pokemon stolen by the other person. Both parties must confirm these conditions. If both parties agree to it, these conditions can be changed at any time. If it comes to the moderation team's attention that an agreement has either been ignored or broken through spite or malice, the offending member will be punished with a warning or even a strike depending on the circumstance.
Naturally you aren't expected to keep every single baby from a clutch. This is where selling comes in. You're free to set your own terms of how you want to sell clutch Pokemon and set your own prices, whether it's Tetras, art, or even items. The only thing we do not allow for transactions is real money or dA points. If we are notified that any real money is being given for non-commission purposes in the group, there will be consequences for those involved.
