Abstract

This project focues on some key issues related to fuel cycle externalities. It is concerned with the identification and classification of externalities . A basic classification in terms of fuel type and stage has been adopted for the purpose of this project. The various monetization and valuation techniques are also reviewed in order to gain a better understanding. A literature survey has also been conducted of externality studies that have been conducted and the methods and approaches used have been identified and compared. The estimates and externality values have also been compared using different parameters like time, country and fuel cycle. Finally, a detailed study has been conducted on one fuel cycle (coal) and the externalities associated with CO₂ emission.
