Human Resource Planning and Optimization in Ship Inspection Services

Abstract

Ship inspection services is a type of business providing expertise in the ship to provide quality examination of the property in the ship and to identify the condition of the examined property upon client request. The project initiation is based the demand of the clients. The demands of the clients are in predictable pattern due to the inspection in marine industry is periodically carried. Project manpower planning starts when client confirms and releases the purchase order. Comparing with conventional industry, ship inspection project requires prompt response due to vessel’s operation pattern. This thesis focuses on developing technical tools to provide optimize and fast solution for human resource planning in ship inspection services. Technical tools such as business process mapping, SWOT, optimization model and Analytic Hierarchy Process Analytic are applied.
