Abstract

its popularity in the global market place. In Singapore, there are currently 6 main car sharing operators, Car Club, iCarsClub, Smove, WhizzCar, Tribecar and BlueSG. Among which, BlueSG is the only operator owns a full fleet of electric cars for sharing. The appropriate location of car sharing stations directly link to the market potential of car sharing business. These locations should take various factors of attractiveness to fulfil the demand of local travelling needs. This thesis analysed the performance of existing BlueSG car sharing stations and propose new stations for future expansion. The methodology used to optimize the station locations follows two steps. The first step is to frame criteria and build a AHP model evaluate performance of existing BlueSG car sharing stations as well as proposing a list of candidate stations. The second step is to allocate the candidate stations by applying location-allocation models based on designed coverage distance and demand points represented by population density of Singapore.
