Lean Implementation, Cells Layout Improvement and Process Reengineering of Failure Analysis in Flexible Manufacturing System

Dai Wenhuan

Abstract

Flexible Manufacturing System incorporates a system view of manufacturing while market competition becomes more intense. Today’s manufacturing strategy is to seek benefits from flexibility. The core elements of flexibility are levelled as basic flexibilities, system flexibilities and aggregate flexibilities. This project will focus on lean methodologies and cell layout improvement and re-engineering process especially in FA department where the problem identified and raised. In order to make FA work more efficient in terms of reducing the operational lead time as well as the cost, series of analysis is carried out on proposing the suitable and feasible solution. After that, system dynamic modelling structured as a validation model based on the policies applied in this project. However, management’s risk attitude is not considered in this paper and assumption of data is in used to support this study. Using lean manufacturing, cell layout improvement and re-engineering process, at attempt to find a decision policy that will enable policy maker to fulfil their objectives is conducted.
