Optimizing EV Charging Station Locations for Singapore Green Transportation Network

Lu Ying

Abstract

Recent improvement in electric vehicle (EV) technology has make EV a highly economically feasible options for personal transportation in Singapore. Although the batteries that support the electric motors may be charged at home or within residential multi storey car parks, it is still essential to build special electric vehicle charging kiosks (or if charging takes a long time, batteries can be replaced) around Singapore, to keep the cars going. The goal of this project is to develop analytical models to determine (1) The suitable locations for charging stations in parts of Singapore and (2) The choice of site placements to achieve an optimal coverage of the resultant infrastructure network. Multiple Criteria Decision Making and Optimization methods will be used.
