Planning of Resources for Aircraft Maintenance

Heng Sook Yee

Abstract

Airlines must efficiently perform aircraft maintenance of their fleets in order to ensure aviation safety. Planning of resources for maintenance of aircrafts is typically performed manually based on staff experience following some business rules. This process is not only time-consuming but often ineffective leading to unnecessary delays in handing over the aircrafts to the customers, resulting in increasing costs and decreasing customers’ satisfactions. The aim of this project is to develop a planning models using Lingo 7.0 program for the efficient allocation of resources for replacement of aircraft hard life component. The resources uses in this project are engineers and technicians. The models developed will be tested with case studies using operating data from leading airlines Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), known as MRO A in this report.
