If you want to keep your in-ear earbuds physically attached to you while they stay in the charging case, choose Podstring Anti-Lost Strap; if you need to protect a Bose QuietComfort charging case from drops, scratches and daily wear, choose lopie Handmade Case. These two accessories solve completely different problems, and the charging case is exactly where that difference shows up: one works around it, the other wraps it.
• Podstring Anti-Lost Strap — biggest strength: a 0.6 g elastic lanyard that anchors your earbuds through their silicone ear tips and lets them stay attached while stored in the charging case, so you never remove it to charge.
• Podstring Anti-Lost Strap — biggest trade-off: it only works with in-ear earbuds that have silicone tips. AirPods 1, 2, 3 and 4, plus any open-ear design without tips, are not compatible.
• lopie Handmade Case — biggest strength: a handcrafted, multi-layer hard shell with vegan leather outside and a microfiber cushion inside, sized specifically for Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2 (2025), QuietComfort Ultra (2023) and QuietComfort Earbuds II (2022).
• lopie Handmade Case — biggest trade-off: it is a case-only product with narrow fitment. It does not include the earbuds or the charging case, and it will not fit the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds or any other brand.
• Who each pick is for: Podstring for runners, commuters and gym-goers who keep dropping or nearly losing tip-style earbuds; lopie for Bose QC owners who want their charging case protected and personalized.
This is a tiny accessory with one job: keep your earbuds from hitting the pavement. The design is an elastic cord just 0.65 mm in diameter, and the whole strap weighs about 0.6 g. In practice that means you forget it is there. It attaches through the silicone ear tips of your earbuds, which is why it works across AirPods Pro 1, 2 and 3, plus in-ear models from Sony, Beats, Samsung, Bose and JBL as long as they use silicone tips.
The feature that matters most for charging-case earbuds is the "charge without removing" design. Most earbud straps and holders force you to detach the accessory, drop the buds in the case, then reattach everything afterward. Podstring stays on while the earbuds sit in the charging case, so charging becomes a non-event. For someone who charges daily, that single detail removes the most annoying part of owning a strap.
Who should skip it: AirPods 1/2/3/4 owners and anyone with open-ear earbuds. The strap relies on silicone tips to grip, so those designs simply are not supported. Also skip it if your real concern is protecting the charging case itself — this does nothing for that.
lopie Handmade Case: Who It's For
The lopie Handmade Case is a protective shell for the Bose QuietComfort charging case, not for the earbuds themselves. It is built in layers: a rugged vegan leather overlay outside in a carbon fiber pattern, a polycarbonate shell for shock absorption, and a soft microfiber lining inside that is designed not to scratch your Bose case the way hard plastic covers sometimes do. The whole thing weighs about 37 g and measures roughly 3 x 2.6 x 1.3 inches.
Because it is handcrafted, no two cases come out completely identical — the brand leans into that as the point. If you like the idea of an understated, slightly unique accessory rather than a mass-produced clone, that is the appeal. Functionally, it is a snap-on two-piece design with a wide bottom cut-out so you can plug in a USB-C cable without pulling the case off, and the front leaves the pairing/status LED visible.
The catch is fitment. It is made for Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2 Earbuds (2025), QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2023) and QuietComfort Earbuds II (2022) — and explicitly not for the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. It also ships as the cover only; your Bose earbuds and charging case are not included.
Who should buy it: Bose QC Ultra or QC Earbuds II owners who toss their charging case into a bag or pocket all day and want scratch and drop protection with a bit of character. Who should skip it: anyone with a different brand, or with Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. This is a narrow-fit product by design.

• Best for Bose QuietComfort Ultra / QC Earbuds II owners → lopie Handmade Case. It is cut specifically for those models.
• Best for AirPods Pro and other silicone-tip in-ear buds → Podstring Anti-Lost Strap. Broad cross-brand compatibility with tip-style earbuds.
• Best for a handcrafted, personal look → lopie Handmade Case. Handmade construction means no two are quite alike.
• Best for active use — running, cycling, gym → Podstring Anti-Lost Strap. The featherweight cord is built for movement.
• Best for pocket-and-bag carry → lopie Handmade Case. A hard shell with internal shock absorption handles knocks better than a bare case.
In my opinion, the right pick comes down to what actually goes wrong for you. If your earbuds keep ending up on the floor, or you want that safety net while they charge in the case, I would buy the Podstring Anti-Lost Strap — it is the more broadly compatible accessory and the one that solves a daily, real-world annoyance. If you own Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2, Ultra or QC Earbuds II and your worry is the charging case getting scuffed and knocked around, I would buy the lopie Handmade Case instead. They are not competitors so much as two answers to two different questions.
how to charge earbuds case
Put the earbuds back into their charging case, close the lid, and connect the case to a power source — most cases use a USB-C cable. The lopie Handmade Case has a wide bottom cut-out so you can plug in without removing the cover, and the Podstring strap stays attached while the earbuds sit in the case.
how to charge case without earbuds
You can charge the case on its own by leaving the earbuds out and plugging the case into power — it simply tops up its internal battery for later. With the lopie case fitted, the cut-out still gives you access to the charging port, so nothing needs to come off.
how to charge jlab earbuds case
JLab in-ear models with silicone tips can use the Podstring Anti-Lost Strap, and charging works the same way: seat the buds in the case, close it, and connect the cable. The strap does not need to be removed during charging, which is the whole point of its design.
how to charge apple earbuds case
For AirPods Pro 1, 2 or 3, the Podstring strap can stay on while the buds sit in the charging case, so you just connect the case to power as usual. Note that standard AirPods 1, 2, 3 and 4 are not compatible with the Podstring strap because they lack silicone ear tips.
