STATEMENT | 9 SEPTEMBER, 2025
We unequivocally condemn the Israeli airstrike carried out in Doha, Qatar on September 9, 2025, which resulted in multiple fatalities, including civilians and reportedly a Qatari security officer. This blatant act of aggression represents a grave violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, international law, and the principles of diplomacy and regional stability.
The strike targeted members of Hamas who were reportedly engaged in ongoing diplomatic discussions related to a ceasefire proposal. By launching this attack on sovereign Qatari soil—without consent or forewarning—Israel has dangerously escalated tensions in a region already strained by conflict.
Qatar has played a central role in mediating peace efforts and ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, working closely with international partners to secure hostages' release and facilitate humanitarian aid. This strike not only endangers those efforts but sends a deeply destabilizing message across the region.
We stand firmly with the State of Qatar in its right to defend its sovereignty and demand accountability for this unlawful and reckless act. We call on the international community—especially the United Nations, regional bodies, and major global powers—to condemn this aggression and to ensure such violations are not repeated.
Further, we urge immediate restraint from all parties, the resumption of ceasefire talks, and a renewed commitment to diplomacy over unilateral military action.
