Statement from the Prime Minister on the New Prime Minister's Residence

OUTSIDE NUMBER 13 - The Prime Minister, Genevieve Cartier, this evening issued the following statement on the New Prime Minister's Residence.

Today marks a significant milestone in the stewardship of our national institutions and the preservation of our democratic values. I am pleased to announce the completion and official opening of the new Prime Minister’s Residence, Bellacarci House!

This new residence has been designed to reflect both the dignity of the office and the evolving needs of a modern, secure, and inclusive Westdom. Built with sustainability, accessibility, and public accountability at its core, it stands as a symbol of responsible governance and respect for tradition.

The previous residence served our country well for generations, and we honor its legacy. However, after decades of service and deferred maintenance, it became clear that a new home was necessary to ensure the safety, functionality, and long-term integrity of the Prime Minister's official residence.

This new residence not only provides a safe and functional living and working environment for future Prime Ministers and their families, but also serves as a secure venue for hosting visiting dignitaries and conducting key government business.

I want to thank the many architects, engineers, and public servants who worked tirelessly to bring this project to life with care, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.

This residence belongs not to one individual or one government, but to the people of this nation. It is a reflection of our commitment to preserving our democratic institutions and upholding the integrity of public office for generations to come.
