If you want a rugged, universally compatible hard-shell carrier with a textured black finish and straightforward tool-free mounting for car audio equipment or bulky gear, choose PM PERFORMOTOR Rooftop Cargo Carrier; if you need a certified carbon-fiber composite box with a sleek anthracite design and TÜV safety validation for high-speed highway travel, choose FLORIDIFY Rooftop Cargo Box.
• PM PERFORMOTOR: Offers 11 cubic feet of space in a heavy-duty ABS plastic shell with a textured black finish, prioritizing universal fitment on cross bars and tool-free installation over premium material composition.
• FLORIDIFY: Delivers slightly more volume at 11.3 cubic feet using a lightweight Carbon Fiber and Polypropylene mix, featuring independently tested TÜV and GS safety certifications and an aluminum locking mechanism.
• Best for PM PERFORMOTOR: Buyers who prioritize a classic, durable hard-shell look, easy DIY installation, and maximum compatibility with standard roof racks without needing to verify complex certification standards.
• Best for FLORIDIFY: Drivers seeking a modern, ultra-lightweight solution that emphasizes structural integrity through advanced materials and official European safety testing, specifically for those traveling long distances at higher speeds.
The PM PERFORMOTOR unit is built for the practical buyer who needs reliable storage without fuss. Its primary appeal lies in its robust construction using impact-resistant ABS plastic. This material choice ensures the carrier can withstand harsh weather conditions, UV rays, and road debris over the long term. Unlike soft-shell bags that can sag or tear, this hard-shell design maintains its shape and provides a secure environment for your belongings. The textured black surface finish adds a layer of visual durability, hiding scratches and scuffs better than glossy alternatives might during daily commutes or weekend getaways.
Capacity is where this carrier shines for families and hobbyists alike. With 11 cubic feet of internal storage, it offers ample room for suitcases, camping gear, skis, and other oversized items that simply won't fit inside the vehicle cabin. The 110-pound maximum capacity allows for even distribution of weight, which is crucial when carrying heavy loads like car audio components or sports equipment. The lid opens to a 14-inch width, providing a generous entry point for loading bulky items without the awkward maneuvering required by narrower boxes.
This product is ideal for drivers who value simplicity and versatility. It features a universal fit designed for vehicles with factory or aftermarket cross bars, covering most SUVs, trucks, sedans, crossovers, and EVs. The inclusion of ABS plastic mounting brackets and all necessary hardware means you can achieve a quick, tool-free installation. You do not need to hunt for specialized wrenches or drill holes; the system is engineered to clamp onto your existing rails securely. However, if you are looking for exotic materials or a specific low-profile aerodynamic shape that minimizes wind noise to the absolute theoretical limit, the standard ABS construction here may feel less premium compared to carbon-fiber options.

The FLORIDIFY box targets the driver who prioritizes engineering and safety certifications above all else. Its standout feature is the construction material: a blend of Carbon Fiber and Polypropylene. This combination is significant because it reduces overall weight while maintaining exceptional structural rigidity. For anyone concerned about fuel efficiency or the handling dynamics of their vehicle when driving at highway speeds, the lighter weight of this composite shell is a tangible benefit. The Anthracite color gives it a sophisticated, modern aesthetic that stands out from the typical black plastic carriers found on the market.
Safety and security are central to the FLORIDIFY design philosophy. The product is independently tested and certified to TÜV and GS standards, meeting strict structural and safety requirements. This level of verification provides peace of mind regarding the box's ability to withstand high-speed impacts and extreme stress, making it a compelling choice for frequent long-distance travelers or those who drive aggressively. The closure system reinforces this focus on security, utilizing an aluminum locking mechanism paired with steel hardware. This setup offers a tamper-resistant seal that is far more robust than standard plastic latches, ensuring your cargo remains safe whether you are parked overnight or crossing state lines.
With 11.3 cubic feet of storage, the FLORIDIFY box offers a slight edge in volume over many competitors, making it perfect for extended road trips, ski holidays, or family adventures where every inch counts. It does not compromise the interior space of your vehicle, allowing you to carry passengers comfortably while storing their gear overhead. However, potential buyers must be mindful of the installation requirements. While it fits a wide range of vehicles, the emphasis on precision fitting suggests you should carefully compare the listed dimensions with your specific vehicle before ordering. If you have older or non-standard roof rack systems, the fit might require more scrutiny than the "universal" claims suggest.
• Best for Material Durability: PM PERFORMOTOR uses thick ABS plastic known for resisting impact and weathering, whereas FLORIDIFY relies on a carbon-fiber composite that offers superior strength-to-weight ratios.
• Best for Weight Savings: FLORIDIFY wins here due to its carbon fiber and polypropylene build, which is inherently lighter than the heavy-duty ABS plastic of the PM PERFORMOTOR model.
• Best for Security Features: FLORIDIFY employs an aluminum lock with steel hardware, offering a more industrial-grade tamper resistance compared to the standard key and lock system on the PM PERFORMOTOR.
• Best for Safety Certification: FLORIDIFY holds independent TÜV and GS certifications, providing verified structural safety data that the PM PERFORMOTOR sheet does not explicitly claim.
• Best for Ease of Installation: PM PERFORMOTOR highlights tool-free installation with included ABS brackets, suggesting a simpler setup process for the average user compared to the potentially more precise alignment needed for the FLORIDIFY.
• Best for Storage Volume: FLORIDIFY offers 11.3 cubic feet, a marginal but noticeable increase over the 11 cubic feet provided by the PM PERFORMOTOR.
• Best for Visual Finish: PM PERFORMOTOR features a textured black finish that hides wear well, while FLORIDIFY offers a sleek Anthracite color that appeals to those wanting a modern look.
• Best for Wind Noise Management: Both claim aerodynamic benefits, but the FLORIDIFY's carbon fiber construction often translates to a stiffer shell that may vibrate less at high speeds.
In my opinion, I would choose the FLORIDIFY Rooftop Cargo Box for serious road trips and high-speed highway driving. The combination of carbon fiber construction, TÜV certification, and an aluminum locking mechanism represents a more advanced engineering approach that justifies the choice for long-term reliability. The slightly larger capacity and reduced weight make it a smarter investment for someone who drives frequently and carries valuable gear, including sensitive car audio equipment that requires stable transport. That said, if you prefer a no-nonsense, textured black carrier that installs quickly without worrying about certification papers, the PM PERFORMOTOR remains a solid, functional workhorse. Ultimately, for the best balance of performance and safety, the FLORIDIFY takes the lead.
Both units claim aerodynamic shapes to reduce wind noise, but the FLORIDIFY's carbon fiber shell may offer slightly better vibration damping at highway speeds compared to the ABS plastic of the PM PERFORMOTOR.
The PM PERFORMOTOR explicitly mentions tool-free installation with included mounting brackets, while the FLORIDIFY requires verifying dimensions carefully, implying a precise fit that may need standard tools for adjustment.
The FLORIDIFY's aluminum locking mechanism and steel hardware provide a more tamper-resistant seal, offering higher security for valuables compared to the standard locking system on the PM PERFORMOTOR.
Both are marketed as universal fits for vehicles with cross bars, but the FLORIDIFY advises comparing specific dimensions with your vehicle first, whereas the PM PERFORMOTOR includes specific bracket details for a wider range of rail widths.
