The “Sullivan Conjecture” and Its Impact

I will discuss a famous conjecture due to Dennis Sullivan: its meaning (a homotopy-theoretic approximation of fixed point sets), its proof (the Steenrod algebra and the Adams spectral sequence), and its impact (𝑝-compact groups).
