"Play with Fire" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, originally released as B-side to the song "The Last Time". It was later included on the American release of their 1965 album Out of Our Heads.

"Play with Fire" is credited to Nanker Phelge, a pseudonym used when tracks were composed by the entire band, even though lead singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards are the only Rolling Stones to appear on the track. The song was recorded late one night in January 1965 while the Stones were in Los Angeles recording with Phil Spector at the RCA Studios. Richards performed the song's acoustic guitar opening while Jagger handled vocals and tambourine (enhanced using an echo chamber). Spector played bass, and Jack Nitzsche provided the song's distinctive harpsichord arrangement and tamtams. The Stones left for a tour of Australia the following day.[2]

Now, is discussing this MLK lyric the most appropriate way to honor the legacy of one of history's greatest figures, one of the great voices not just of Civil Rights but of the humanist goal of universal equality and dignity, on this holiday in his name? Probably not, but it seemed too prominent a line to ignore. It was a classic example of the Stones'abilityto absorb different types of sound even when the whole band was notplayingon the track. Brian, Bill and Charlie didn't play on Play with Fire.They'd all dropped off to sleep. One could have got them up again butonedidn't. So it was Phil Spector on tuned-down guitar and Jack Nitzscheonharpsichord in addition to Richards and Jagger. It was at the end of asession with some old guy sweeping up.


Play with Fire sounds amazing - whenI heard it last. I mean, it's a very in-your-face kind of sound andveryclearly done. You can hear all the vocal stuff on it. Playing With Fire is one hell of a track. It is a lot different to their debut songs. It focuses more on delivering the energy and vocals. I personally like this track more than their debut tracks. I love the EDM sounds that ran throughout the chorus and the later parts of the song. YG artists tend to be quite versatile with their song types and this just further proves it. I love the EDM, but also loved the slow hip-hop and RnB in the song. The untuned piano at the start made the introduction a whole heap interesting. I do agree with a lot of people when they say it sounds like a 2NE1 song. There are 2NE1 vibes throughout While I said the song focuses more on the vocal side for the group, I was not much of a big fan of their vocals. They should have just let loose but instead, they sounded like they held everything back. I do love the bass that the song had going. Another song of just a few with the bass up to the right level.

Individuals with High functioning autism (HFA) are distinguished by relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive skills. However, problems with pragmatic language skills have been consistently reported across the autistic spectrum, even when structural language is intact. Our main goal was to investigate how highly verbal individuals with autism process figurative language and whether manipulation of the stimuli presentation modality had an impact on the processing. We were interested in the extent to which visual context, e.g., an image corresponding either to the literal meaning or the figurative meaning of the expression may facilitate responses to such expressions. Participants with HFA and their typically developing peers (matched on intelligence and language level) completed a cross-modal sentence-picture matching task for figurative expressions and their target figurative meaning represented in images. We expected that the individuals with autism would have difficulties in appreciating the non-literal nature of idioms and metaphors, despite intact structural language skills. Analyses of accuracy and reaction times showed clearly that the participants with autism performed at a lower level than their typically developing peers. Moreover, the modality in which the stimuli were presented was an important variable in task performance for the more transparent expressions. The individuals with autism displayed higher error rates and greater reaction latencies in the auditory modality compared to the visual stimulus presentation modality, implying more difficulty. Performance differed depending on type of expression. Participants had more difficulty understanding the culturally-based expressions, but not expressions grounded in human experience (biological idioms). This research highlights the importance of stimulus presentation modality and that this can lead to differences in figurative language comprehension between typically and atypically developing individuals. The current study also contributes to current debates on the role of structural language in figurative language comprehension in autism.

Mashal & Kasirer [24] conducted a study where individuals with HFA, children with learning disorder and typically developing controls were compared. The authors used 11 subtests, ranging from interpretation of figurative expressions, including visual metaphors, idioms, conventional metaphors, novel metaphors, to comprehension of homophones and semantic tests (synonymy, similarity). Their results showed that children with learning deficit scored significantly lower than typically developing peers on comprehension of conventional metaphors and idioms, but no significant differences were observed between the two groups on comprehension of visual and novel metaphors. Furthermore, both deficit groups displayed a dissociation between the visual modality and the auditory modality, supporting the assumption that modality is a salient factor in figurative language processing. In contrast, the control group demonstrated an association between idioms and conventional metaphors. This result supports the idea that idioms and conventional metaphors share a common ground, in that both are relatively frozen conventionalised expressions and most likely rest on similar mechanisms for their processing.
