I've been trying to get my shop's plasmacam set back up and everything else works, moves on all axis, does dry runs, and will fire if I pull the trigger manually. However, I'm not trying to hold the torch while in motion. Previously we've had zipties on the trigger and that worked before, but when I try that now I get torch cutting signal not detected. I've looked at all of the cable ends and ports, drained the air compressor a few times, and replaced with new consumables with no luck. The machine is a hypertherm powermax 45 with the plasmacam program and table.
Just checking to see if anyone is doing this and what post they are using. You have to use the Design Edge software to run the machine which is fine but the design part makes me want to punch the screen. Not to mention the basic machine doesnt even let you design anything.. thats another 1000. for a software upgrade. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You need to provide some details. If design edge is the only way to run the machines, what kinds of files does it read? (the webpage mentions "many file formats") Is there a way to use M&G codes. If you need dxf or SVG files that is possible also. I assume you are using the waterjet/laser/plasma cutting operation.
I have a gotorch plasma table with a simadre cut 50 dp and I've been using Fusion 360 to design my parts to upload to design edge. I'm new to this but I had some success with this software. I have to pretty much do everything in Fusion, export as a .dxf, import into design edge and set my cut settings. Then I'm ready to cut. The only problems I'm having is associated with tool paths and pierce points. Sometimes the design edge cut path is different than the simulation in Fusion. I'm not sure exactly whats going on but it ruins parts about half the time. My machine does not have torch height control and I'm running the cut down version of design edge. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
