Muhammad Kashan Bin Nadeem ("we," "our," or "us") built Plant X ("the App") as a commercial application.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Chat Messages: When you use the Ask Botanist feature, your messages are sent to our server for
processing via OpenAI's API. We do not store your chat history on our servers — conversations exist only
on your device during the active session.
- Plant Images: When you use the plant identification or diagnosis feature, images are processed locally
on your device using an on-device model. Images are not uploaded to any server.
Information Collected Automatically
- Subscription Data: Purchase receipts, product IDs, and subscription status are stored securely on your
device using encrypted storage. Purchase receipts are sent to Apple App Store or Google Play for
server-side validation.
- Device Preferences: App settings such as language preference, dark mode, notification preferences, and
usage counters are stored locally on your device.
Permissions
- Camera: Used to take photos of plants for identification and diagnosis.
- Photo Library: Used to select existing photos for plant identification and diagnosis.
- Notifications: Used to send plant care reminders that you schedule.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide plant identification, diagnosis, and care advice features
- Process and validate in-app purchase subscriptions
- Deliver plant care reminders you have scheduled
- Maintain your app preferences and settings
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- OpenAI API: Chat messages sent through the Ask Botanist feature are processed by OpenAI. Messages are
routed through our secure server — your device never communicates directly with OpenAI. OpenAI's privacy
policy applies to data they process: https://openai.com/privacy
- Apple App Store / Google Play: Subscription purchases and receipt validation are handled by the
respective platform. Their privacy policies apply.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Sensitive data (subscription status, purchase receipts) is stored using encrypted secure storage on
your device.
- Non-sensitive preferences (language, theme) are stored in standard device storage.
- Chat conversations are not persisted — they are lost when you close the chat screen.
- Plant images are processed on-device and are not uploaded or stored by us.
- Our server functions act as stateless proxies — they do not log or store your data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Data is only transmitted
to:
- OpenAI (chat messages, via our server proxy) to generate responses
- Apple/Google (purchase receipts) to validate subscriptions
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we
will delete it.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
All user data is stored locally on your device. To delete your data, simply uninstall the App. We do not
maintain any server-side user accounts or databases containing your personal information.
8. Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times. You
can:
- Delete the app to remove all stored data
- Clear app data from your device settings
- Manage subscription status through Apple App Store or Google Play
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last
Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
