Meet Your Recruiters

MSgt Doryan Leterrier (954)464-0958

Bio

My name is MSgt Doryan Leterrier. I migrated to the United States when I was eight years old and lived in Resaca, Georgia and graduated from high school in May 2008. I enlisted into the Air Force in June 2009 and arrived at Lackland AFB, Texas in November 2009 for Basic Military Training. Upon graduation, I reported to Vehicle Management Technical School and graduated in May 2010 as a Special Purpose Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice. I then headed off to my first duty station, Ramstein AFB, Germany, in the Special Purpose Shop and Customer Service Section. I spent 5 years in Germany and loved every bit of it. I got to travel all over Europe and met my wife there. Next I headed off to Hill AFB in Ogden Utah. I spent 5 years there as well and worked in multiple sections. Now I am stationed here in Plantation FL enjoying the southern Florida lifestyle. Since I've been in I've taken full advantage of the military’s education benefits by obtaining an Associates, Bachelor’s and a Master's degree in Quality Systems Management through Cambridge College. I originally signed a four year contract but realized that no job compares to what the Air Force has offered me throughout my career.

SSgt Amanda Toral (954)325-0780

Bio

My name is SSgt Amanda Toral. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I graduated high school in May of 2012 and enlisted shortly after graduating in August of 2012.

After Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas, I reported to Health Services Management Technical Training School at Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In December of 2012, I graduated technical school and reported to my first duty station, Cannon AFB, New Mexico. Although the Cannon area was very small and different from the big city environment I was used to, I enjoyed every minute of it

After 5 years of being stationed at Cannon AFB, NM, I received orders to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. At the 10th Medical Group I worked in the Medical Information Services Flight where I obtained my CompTIA Security+ Certification, paid for by the Air Force. I also volunteered to deploy to Al Udeid AB, Qatar from October 2020-May 2021.

Upon my return to Colorado, I was told that I was eligible to apply to be an Air Force Recruiter. I jumped on the opportunity to be able share knowledge about all of the opportunities the Air Force has to offer with others. I was lucky enough to get stationed close to home, here, in Lauderdale Lakes, FL.

I joined the Air Force because (to be completely honest) I had no idea what I wanted to do once I graduated High School but I knew I needed a stable job and a steady income to get there. The Air Force has afforded me the opportunity to do have both of these things and much more. Most Airman in the Air Force will tell you that "joining the Air Force is the best decision they have ever made" and I could not agree more with that statement.

How does the process work?

COVID-19 UPDATE: With all the changes recently due to the corona virus, going forward we will have some slight changes to the enlistment process. Until further notice our Air Force Recruiting Office will remain open and continue to hold appointments and ship out applicants to basic training. However, we will be requiring face masks, practicing social distancing, and operating on an appointment only basis. The intent is to minimize unnecessary contact for the safety of our applicants and our recruiters. Thank you for understanding.

If you have a simple process it should take 3-4 months before you ship out to basic training in San Antonio, TX. Each recruiter may run their process a little bit differently depending on the area they are assigned to. Here’s how I run it out of the Plantation, FL office.

Step 1: Get prequalified. I’ll pre-screen you over the phone to check for any red flags that are disqualifying to enter such as serious medical issues/law violations/drug use/etc. I’ll send you a practice test you can take at home to give you an idea of how you'll score on the ASVAB. If your pre-screen and practice test scores are good to go, I'll schedule your initial appointment.

document, paper, office, composition, business, application, care ...

Step 2: At your initial appointment you must come prepared with your original social security card, birth certificate, high school diploma, college transcripts (if applicable), and a state issued ID (drivers license, state ID, passport, etc.). I will build you a profile in our system and we will review all necessary paperwork. We will go over all benefits, answer any questions, ensure you’re ready to join, and are open to current Air Force needs. We will identify what is the right next step for you. If all is good to go we will put in a request to schedule your ASVAB and physical at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

Step 3: MEPS will be taking precautions and will be screening everyone for covid-19 traits or exposure upon arrival. Once scheduled for MEPS you will go down and complete your testing on the first day. You’ll spend the night at a hotel nearby free of charge and do your physical the next day. Once the testing and physical is complete you will know what jobs you are qualified to do based on academic and physical results. You will complete the oath of enlistment, swear into the Air Force, and be a new member in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP).

Step 4: The delayed entry program (DEP) is everyone who is qualified and waiting to book a job or has booked a job and is waiting for their ship date. We will complete your DEP briefing and give you some time to review the jobs you are qualified for so you can make an educated decision. I will be available for any questions you have and to discuss realistic options. When you are ready we will send a list of 10+ specific jobs and 1 Aptitude area that you would like to request to our operations center.  You will never be given a contract that you are not qualified for or requesting.

Step 5: Every 3 months our operations center will receive 200+ contracts. At this point they will review every DEP member in Florida, Virgin islands, and Puerto Rico  that does not have a job and will align contracts based on applicant's request and Air force needs. Air Force needs currently include all mechanical jobs, electronics jobs, security forces, fuels, linguists, air traffic controllers, and special warfare positions. Once you book a job you’ll receive a date to leave for basic training typically within the next 1-3 months.
